Big Ambitions Mods

Mods for Big Ambitions range from trainers and quality-of-life tools to navigation helpers, hosted mainly on Nexus Mods and the Steam Workshop, but installation depends on matching your game build.

Which mods are worth using?

The most popular Big Ambitions mods fall into three groups: trainers that adjust game values, quality-of-life tools that speed up waiting and surface data, and utility mods that improve navigation. On Nexus Mods the standouts are Big Ambitions - Trainer by thrasher, Aluna's Trainer, Aluna's BizInsights, Voogle Route, and AutoIdle. A Steam Workshop version of the trainer also exists for players who want to avoid manual installation entirely.

The build-confusion problem

The biggest modding pitfall is that Big Ambitions has shipped across several underlying builds, and mods are tied to the build they were made for. At the 1.0 era there are effectively three relevant loader or runtime families in the wild: the older MelonLoader-based builds, the newer BepInEx-based builds, and the mono or IL2CPP runtime builds. A trainer built for one will simply fail to load on another, which is the most common reason players report a mod "not working." Always confirm which build your installed game uses before downloading a mod, and consult Troubleshooting if a mod will not load.

Installing a BepInEx trainer

For the current BepInEx-based setup the typical install is: download the BepInEx Bleeding Edge build and extract it into the game folder, then place the trainer DLL and the DearImGuiInjection dependency into the BepInEx/plugins folder. Older MelonLoader-based trainers must be removed first, because mixing loaders causes conflicts. The Steam Workshop trainer skips this entirely by loading through the workshop, which is the lowest-friction option for players who only want a trainer.

Are cheat mods safe?

Because Big Ambitions is single-player, there is no anti-cheat such as VAC watching for trainers, so using a trainer will not get you banned from an online service. That said, cheating can undermine the intended progression and may disable the sense of achievement. The standard advice is to back up your saves before adding any mod, keep separate save slots for modded and unmodded play, and remember that the official recover-saves system only keeps recent automatic backups. This page documents mods for information; it is not an endorsement of cheating.

Where mods are published

Nexus Mods is the primary host for Big Ambitions mods, the official forum has a mod section where authors like thrasher post releases, and the Steam Workshop carries a streamlined subset. Community-made mods also exist in other languages, though not all are broadly acknowledged by the wider community. Because 1.0 changed the underlying build, check each mod's update date and confirmed compatibility before installing, and prefer mods explicitly noted as working with the current version.

Keeping mods compatible after updates

Game updates can shift the underlying build and break mods until their authors update them. A safe routine is to note which mods you rely on, avoid updating the game mid-save if a critical mod is unconfirmed, and watch mod pages for 1.0-compatible releases. When in doubt, disable mods, load the save unmodded to confirm it works, then re-enable one mod at a time to isolate any conflict.

Modding FAQ

  • Will a trainer get me banned? No; the game is single-player with no anti-cheat, but back up your saves first.
  • Why did my mod break after an update? A game update can shift the underlying build; wait for the mod author's 1.0-compatible release.
  • Do I need the Steam Workshop version? It is the lowest-friction option and avoids loader conflicts entirely.
